The prelude: A smart city concept for tree irrigation

How much water does a city tree need?

The development of smart urban furniture was the first step in the field of rainwater management.

Drought summer in GermanySuch pictures motivated us to find a solution.

from 2022

We are starting

We have successfully installed watering banks in cities and municipalities that are diligently saving urban trees.

Digitalization also means networking - not just technologically.

Cooperation partners, such as Mainova, are also joining

The perfect match

Ralf Gerbershagen comes on board.

Due to Corona, it takes months until Ralf and Daniel see each other in person for the first time.

But we not only have periods of drought, but also extreme weather events such as heavy rain.

These two extremes are becoming more and more common and climate change will not change that.

It was clear to us that we had to think bigger - beyond the irrigation bank. But we are convinced that digitalization can balance out the two extremes.

But we will not be able to solve the problems alone.

We asked ourselves how we can best use our practical experience together with many years of industry, methodological and technological expertise?

May '24: We are together with Hauraton at the IFAT

Hauraton: Drainage expert

Awatree: Digital expert

We started with a concept phase that lasted 4-5 months. During this phase, we clarified what holistic rainwater management actually means. It's not just about installing a sensor in a gutter.

We have examined how digitalization can help to balance these two areas by measuring what is happening and combining and interpreting data. Digitalization helps to buffer and balance this water balance a little better.

Together we build holistic rainwater management

We presented this solution for the first time at IFAT.
